BMW Finally Goes Electric i3 and i8 Sport Electric Car

Since 2009, BMW has been teasing us with their ideas on the company's green car future. Now, we finally have a green car to talk about. BMW has a prototype electric car, the i3...and also a sports electric car, the i8 (below)

Both cars are rear wheel drive, as they are from BMW...and seat up to four people. The concept cars are said to be about 90% of what the actual car will look like, so it's not so much a vision of the future anymore.

The i3 (above) will be an amazing vehicle, with a total weight of 2,755 lbs which is 595 lbs lighter than the Nissan Leaf! 0-60 mph will take less than 8 seconds, and can be charged to 80% in an hour. The i8 will also be awesome with a 0-60 time in the upper 4 second range, and with its gas engine parallel it will use less than .79 gallons of gas per 62 miles! The gas engine is a high performance three cylinder which extends the range and the power of the i8. Top speed: 155 mph

  1. BMW's futuristic cars were once only visions from batmobiles and Judge Dred mobiles until these came along.
