Control Your Car with Touch and Voice "Smart Cars"

Cadillac is working on a new display that will have a natural conversation with the driver and give physical feedback. The touchscreen that will do all this is said to be coming out as soon as next year in some models.

The name is Cue. It is a set of car controls and entertainment options built with technology familiar to users of smart phones. The touchscreen has been used for years, but this one isn't like the ordinary unit. Voice control, and a physical touchscreen will be used with the latest technology to create a "command center" that is like having R2D2 riding with you.

Scrolling through a menu, the screen will respond to your touch with certain vibrations...in this case the screen would feel like a ribbed surface. The technology will extend over to the steering wheel, with controls mounted to navigate through menus. The virtual instrument cluster will be right in front of the driver, and can be changed to show information that the driver wants to see such as; navigation information, phone calls, current speed, and much more...

The voice recognition will be capable of controlling a lot of different functions, similar to Ford's Sync technology...however, Cue is much more advanced than Sync so conversations should be understood much easier now.
