Nissan is teaming up with the leading European companies to speed up the development of publicly available quick charge stations across Europe.
This will make a new road for business,
being capable of reaching full charge in nearly 3 minutes...which will rival the time taken to fill a car with gasoline. All this isn't too far out, Nissan has the capability of getting to 80% battery charge in under 30 minutes.
I suppose with ever increasing technology goals and achievements, something will come along to make driving an electric car just as convenient as it's gas predecessor.
Last year, JFE Engineering announced that it had created a 3-minute super-rapid charging system, which has inspired Nissan to reach a similar goal. This will however take awhile to reach...the technology does exist but 1. The technology would take 10 years to commercialize and 2. The quick charge would put a HUGE strain on the power grid.

The Nissan Note and Qashqai in the UK are both produced at their UK factory in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear. On January 9, 2009, it was announced that 1,200 jobs were to be cut at the Sunderland plant.
