Hyundai to Offer Plug-in Electric Car
on a plug-in car despite the reports. The new 2012 Elantra (i30 in other countries) may be built to offer a plug-in hybrid version of the sweet looking hatchback.
This Elantra would be competing with the plug-in car leader, Toyota's Prius.
The regular Elantra already has a pretty good EPA fuel economy rating, so adding a plug-in version should bring a fuel economy in the range of 45 to 55 mpg. Even with these numbers, Hyundai may need to consider a cheaper sticker price than Toyota's Prius if they want to compete directly.
This is all still based on rumors, but it definitely seems like a good move on Hyundai's part. Would you buy an electric car? Or even this Elantra?
